Statement on behalf of Potters Bar Hospital
We are aware of allegations circulating on social media relating to the alleged use of mechanical restraint chairs at our Potters Bar Hospital.
The safety and wellbeing of our patients is our highest priority at all times and to suggest that we employ the use of restraining chairs is utterly false.
We have never used and never will use such a mechanical restraint chair at any of our sites. We do not even own chairs like this. We wish to make it absolutely clear that the allegations on social media about the use of this type of chair are false, deeply upsetting and potentially stigmatising.
Due to the highly sensitive nature of the care we provide we do not challenge every inaccurate statement that is published about our care teams on social media and other mediums, but we feel strongly that these particular allegations warrant a response.
The spread of such falsehoods is not in any way helpful to the wider discussion regarding the provision of care for some of the most vulnerable members of our society.
