A phobia is a type of anxiety disorder. People who experience phobias suffer from extreme fear or anxiety which is triggered by a specific situation (such as being in a small space) or object (such as Insects).
A phobia is an extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something. This could be an object, a place, a situation, a feeling or animal. People suffering from phobias will suffer from an exaggerated or unrealistic sense of danger.
Severe phobias may impede on the person day to day life as they will live life around the phobia this can cause extreme distress.
People with phobias will only experience anxiety from the phobia when they experience the specific situation.
This may result in symptoms such as:
