Professional Experience:
I work at the Brighton and Hove Clinic as a Consultant Psychiatrist.
I read Medicine at Cambridge University where I obtained a Master’s Degree in Experimental Psychology. I then went on to complete my training at Guy’s Hospital in London, where my interest in Psychiatry developed. My training continued to complete membership of the Royal College of Physicians and to become a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
During my training, I worked for two years at the national unit for Affective disorders at the Maudsley Hospital, where I developed an interest in the treatment of depression.
I am an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Brighton and Sussex Medical School and work part time at Sussex Partnership NHS trust in the Assertive Outreach Team.
I was Deputy Head of the Post Graduate Medical School and led the development of the psychiatry curriculum at Brighton and Sussex Medical School for the school’s first 10 years.
His clinical and research interests are in the fields of Depression and Bipolar Affective Disorder.
I lead the Clinical Academic Group for Bipolar Affective Disorders and I am the deputy chair for the Mood and Anxiety Clinical Academic Group at the Trust.

I have been awarded significant research for patients benefit grant to investigate how patients with Bipolar Affective Disorder obtain information about their condition.
