Bipolar disorder is a condition that effects your moods, where the person will experience extreme highs and extreme lows.
The person suffering from bipolar disorder will have episodes of depression, and mania. Each episode can last for several weeks or more. It can have a significant effect on day to day life of the sufferer.
The aim of treatment is to control the outcome of an episode and assist the person suffering to live a life as normal as possible.
The treatment of bipolar disorder can be a combination of medication, talking therapies and life style changes.
Mood stabilizers may be offered to prevent the episodes of mania and depression alongside antidepressants to treat the depression and mania when they occur.
Education to help the person suffering to identify the triggers and signs.
The person may be offered talking therapies.

· Interpersonal Therapy
The person may also be offered lifestyle advice, helping them to plan activities that they enjoy, regular exercise, healthy eating advice and sleep hygiene.
