Patients with Disorders of Consciousness

Elysium Neurological provides complex care and support for those individuals who are considered to have a disorder of consciousness. This is where a person may have had an accident resulting in a brain injury which prevents them from being aware of people and /or the environment around them despite being awake.

This can be a temporary or more permanent presentation requiring a very skilled team to anticipate and support a person’s needs at all times.

Each of our services can provide this specialised care and support with interventions provided by the clinical teams to ensure a resident’s needs are always monitored and reviewed e.g. their postural management and environment. This includes carrying out repeated observations over set periods of time utilising nationally accredited tools and measures.
