We are delighted to welcome Mary Smeeth, Systemic Therapist to The Chimneys Clinic. Mary is a qualified Family and Systemic Psychotherapist and a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist who works with individuals and families to help them find solutions that work for them uniquely in a practical and down to earth approach.
Mary’s career in mental health began in 1994 in the USA, working as a Case Manager for adults with serious mental illness. She went on to gain a MA in Professional Counselling, with a certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Clinical Mental Health.
In 2004, she returned to the UK and whilst working as the Young People’s Substance Misuse Trainer for Suffolk, gained a Post Graduate Diploma in Addictive Behaviour, she later went on to gain a MA in Systemic Psychotherapy, enabling her to work with individuals, couples and families, focusing on the networks of relationships shaping their lives.
Mary also provides individual and group clinical supervision and training, working with families, adolescent development and addiction, both in the UK and US. More recently, she completed a post graduate certificate in Clinical Hypnotherapy, which she incorporates into her work with individuals.
Mary has worked with a variety of populations including adults, families, couples and young people. This includes individuals in prison settings, with addiction issues and those dealing with domestic violence, relationship problems, grief and loss, and neurodevelopmental disorders.
Mary is proud to work alongside the individuals she supports, as they work to find a kinder more satisfactory way of living.
