The Farndon Unit is a purpose-built low secure hospital which offers personalised assessment and recovery-based treatment pathways for women with complex care needs.
More information about The Farndon Unit
The Farndon Unit provides low secure care for women with a diagnosis of severe and enduring mental illness and/or personality disorder and/or mild learning disability. We offer personalised assessment and recovery-based treatment pathways, including a trauma specific pathway, for women with complex care needs.
Our combination of general low secure wards and a Recovery Ward area (also within the low secure perimeter) provide a seamless internal care pathway supporting and empowering patients in their recovery and rehabilitation prior to discharge. Our on-site facilities include large and attractive en-suite bedrooms, disabled facilities, secure courtyard and garden, patient café, gym, salon and activity hall.
We have celebrated successes with complex patients via the training of all staff and the implementation of the Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) model. We actively promote patient involvement and ensure that they are at the heart of everything we do. All interventions delivered at The Farndon Unit are underpinned by a compassion based approach by all staff.
