We provide comprehensive personalised assessment and treatment programmes for males with mental illness/complex care needs as well as those with personality disorder within our Medium & Low Secure services. Service users may have histories of offending and/or may have failed in previous placements.
The recovery focused model of care is bespoke to the individual needs of each service user. All care pathways are Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) led, with a holistic focus that ensures all aspects of the service users’ health are catered for, including their physical and mental health.
Our purpose built Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (PICU) are designed to provide treatment for patients in an acute psychiatric crisis who are at risk to themselves or others, they cannot be managed in an acute or high dependency unit and require an emergency admission.
This 24-hour service provides assessment, stabilisation, care and support within the least restrictive environment to patients before they move safely through their care pathway to a less acute/secure setting in conjunction with their Community Mental Health Teams.

“I would like to express my gratitude, on behalf of BHFT, to Dr Nev Bhagrath and his team for their professionalism and exemplary attitude, communication and collaboration with us in meeting the needs of the patients we refer to them. Through this exemplary teamwork, we have successfully discharged some patients from their PICU to community, and these patients are doing very well in the community. I cannot speak highly enough of this team and long may this collaboration continue!”
