We are delighted that out of 6500 entries, over 65 Elysium service users have been chosen as winning entrants of this year’s Koestler Awards, including Platinum, Gold and Silver awards.
Organised by The Koestler Trust, which aims to encourage those in secure settings to participate with them in the arts and change their lives by doing so. Koestler Trust then share any artwork with the public, allowing for people to see the diverse range of voices, stories and talents.
The annual Koestler Awards allows for people in secure settings and the criminal justice community to share their creative work. Feedback is provided, with encouragement for all abilities in visual art, design, writing and music. Entries are judged by over 100 experts from multiple fields.
This year’s theme, ‘No Lockdown in the Imagination’, showcases some important artwork surrounding a hard-hitting and poignant subject for 2020. This is important to many of those in the criminal justice system due to some being more isolated that usual during these challenging times.
You can view the outdoor installation at The Southbank Centre in London from 12th November – 13th December 2020.
