Farmfield Hospital is pleased to announce the upcoming opening of a brand new male acute service.
The new service, Brockham Ward, is due to open in July and will provide 14 beds for adults who have a working diagnosis of mental illness. Brockham Ward will provide a rapid response service and accept men in a crisis, supporting them to manage their mental health and prepare for life back in the community. The building is a spacious, bright and a modern environment with 24 individual en-suite bedrooms and built around two enclosed courtyards. It is set in a rural area and has dedicated therapy and communal spaces, making it ideal for delivering high quality care and treatment.
The overall aim of the service is to provide improved quality of life and independence for service users whilst working closely with professionals from the local mental health and social services teams, and other interested stakeholders, with a view to service users moving onto more independent living as soon as possible.
Hospital Director, Malcolm Campbell, said;
“This is a much-needed service for people who need to access local acute mental health services due to being in crisis and requiring specialist care and support. I am delighted that we are opening a purpose built facility to help people when they are most in need of support. We know the impact that mental health problems can have on individuals and their families. I’m proud to be able to support people to get back on their feet and lead a meaningful life. We want to make a difference.”
