09 Aug Isla House now open
We are delighted to announce that our new Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) preparatory service in Milton Keynes is now open!
Isla House provides therapeutic preparatory work for women with a diagnosis of Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD) who are not are not yet ready to engage with the intensive DBT programme. The service enables patients who may be ambivalent about committing to a twelve-month programme to immerse themselves in the DBT culture, develop DBT skills, work on motivation and commitment levels and start to build therapeutic relationships with the multidisciplinary team.
Patients can move from Isla House to adjacent Hope House to complete the full DBT programme. Hope House provides the full DBT programme as described by Marsha Linehan and has achieved excellent outcomes for patients in terms of self-harm reduction, incident reduction, rescinded sections and successful discharges into the community.
Hospital Director, Geoff Keats, said:
“We are delighted to be in a position to open this much needed service. As a team, we recognise that not all women with EUPD are ready to engage with an intensive therapeutic programme such as DBT so Isla House will provide a great opportunity for women to access a service that acknowledges their individual stage on the treatment pathway. The same multidisciplinary team works across Hope and Isla house, providing a high level of expertise and continuity should the patient then move on to engage in an intensive 12 month DBT programme.”
