Canadian Avenue, our exciting new specialist Learning Disabilities and Autism service for males and females in South East London is set to open its doors in November!
The registered care service is designed with a robust environment, structured programme of support and high staffing model, to support people with complex needs and behaviours which may challenge. Embracing and balancing the management of risk with comfort, homeliness, dignity, respect and choice, the service may also suit those who are stepping down from hospital or to avoid an inappropriate hospital admission. The aim of the service is to encourage individuals to lead a full and valued life, enabling them to live more independently through a programme of active community engagement, developing meaningful social networks and robust coping strategies.
The service is staffed 24 hours a day by a dedicated team of registered manager and support workers. Our experienced staff members are specialists in providing services for young people transitioning from residential schools into adult services, with complex communication and sensory needs and epilepsy. Staff are also trained in Positive Behavioural Support and TMVA which equips them to manage challenging behaviour.
Canadian Avenue is a six bed service with light and airy communal spaces including, lounge, quiet rooms, dining area and laundry. There is a large south facing garden with sensory and recreational resources and gardening facilities.
Located in the bustling multicultural area of Catford, Canadian Avenue benefits from a wide range of amenities including markets, shopping centres, parks, local colleges, health clubs and a gym. Catford also has good transport links to Lewisham, Bromley and Central London.
