13 Alexandra Gardens retains Outstanding CQC Rating

13 Alexandra Gardens, part of our learning disability & autism division which provides support for people who may be living with moderate learning disabilities with associated health needs, autism and behaviours that challenge, has retained their Outstanding CQC rating at their inspection in May 2019. The service provides a home in the heart of the local community, which promotes social inclusion through meaningful community engagement. Residents are supported to develop social networks and engage in a range of activities to live purposeful lives.

The latest inspection grades 13 Alexandra Gardens outstanding for being effective, caring, responsive and well-led, with an overall outstanding rating.

The report highlighted the numerous, varied activities that residents benefit from both in the community and in the home:

“There was an exceptionally varied range of activities that was tailored to the people using the service. For example, people took part in community projects, went on holidays, and used interactive light system games to help them to communicate and improve skills such as problem solving and dexterity.”

It also commented on the person-centred and individualised care that is provided:

“The provider used person-centred care planning to make sure people received the care they needed and took account of people’s sensory and communication profiles and positive behaviour plans. They recognised all these areas had an impact on people’s behaviour and needed to be addressed as a whole. The provider helped to celebrate people’s differences and individuality and acknowledged that these did not prevent them from achieving in their lives and their diagnosed conditions were an important part of who they were. Celebrating in this manner helped to make people feel positive about their identity and increased awareness of learning disabilities in the wider community.”
